This policy explains what information Roadmapit (“we”, “us”) collects when you use roadmapit.xyz, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account details — your email address and password when you register with email, or your name, email address and profile picture when you sign in with Google. Passwords are stored hashed by our authentication provider; we never see them.
- Profile details — an optional username, display name, bio and avatar.
- Roadmap content — the goals you describe, your preferences (duration, level, learning style), the roadmaps we generate for you, your progress on tasks, and the roadmaps you star or fork.
- Messages — anything you send us by email or social media.
Information collected automatically
- Usage analytics — we use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views and understand which pages are useful. It does not use cookies and does not identify you personally.
- Technical logs — our hosting and database providers keep standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and request time) for security and troubleshooting.
- Free generator prompts — when you use the generator without an account, we store the text of your prompt and when it was made, without any account or contact details, to understand what people want to learn and improve results.
Payment information
Purchases are handled by Polar, our payment provider and merchant of record. We never receive or store your card details. Polar tells us an order reference, the product, the amount paid and the order status so we can add credits to your account.
How we use your information
- To create your account, sign you in and keep your session secure.
- To generate, save and display your roadmaps and track your progress.
- To process purchases and keep an accurate record of your credits.
- To show your public profile and the roadmaps you choose to make public.
- To answer your questions and send essential service messages, such as password resets.
- To keep Roadmapit secure, prevent abuse, and improve the product.
AI-generated roadmaps
To build a roadmap, we send the goal you describe and your chosen preferences to Google's Gemini API, which generates the content. We don't send your name, email address or account details with the request. Please avoid including personal or sensitive information in your prompts.
Public roadmaps and profiles
Roadmaps are private unless you make them public. When you publish a roadmap, it becomes visible to anyone, including in the community library, and it may appear in search engines. Your username, display name, avatar and bio are shown alongside it, and other people can star it or fork a copy into their own account.
To help search engines discover new public pages, we may notify them of public URLs (via IndexNow). You can make a roadmap private again at any time from your dashboard.
How long we keep information
We keep your account and roadmaps for as long as your account is open. Purchase records are kept as long as needed for accounting and legal obligations. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete your profile and roadmaps within 30 days, except where we must keep certain records by law.
Your choices and rights
You can update your profile in Settings and change the visibility of any roadmap from your dashboard. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal information, or to object to certain processing.
To make a request, including deleting your account, email hello@roadmapit.xyz from the address linked to your account. We'll respond within 30 days. If you're in the EU or UK, you can also contact your local data protection authority.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit, and access to your roadmaps is restricted to you unless you make them public. No online service is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will let you know if a breach affects you.
Children
Roadmapit is not intended for children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU and UK), and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll remove it.
International transfers
Our providers may process information in countries other than yours, including the United States. Where required, they rely on recognised safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Roadmapit evolves. We'll change the date at the top of the page, and for significant changes we'll let signed-in users know.
